# Mote > Mote turns any image into animated 3D particles in the browser and exports clean three.js code (standalone HTML or a React component). Free, no sign-up, nothing is uploaded to a server. ## Pages - [Home](/): what Mote does, example conversions, and an FAQ. - [Studio](/studio): upload an image, choose an animation (ten options including Assemble, Wave, Swirl, Repel and Magnet), adjust particle count, size and color, then copy or download the code. ## How it works 1. The image is drawn to a hidden canvas in the user's browser. 2. Visible pixels (transparent or plain-background pixels are skipped) are randomly sampled; each becomes one particle with that pixel's position and color. 3. A three.js shader animates the particles on the GPU. 4. The exported code embeds the particle data (base64 int16 positions plus uint8 colors), the shader, and the animation. It only needs three.js to run. ## Facts - Runs entirely client-side; images never leave the device. - Input formats: PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF (first frame), SVG. - Export formats: single-file HTML (three.js from a CDN import map) and a React component (`npm install three`). - Animations: Assemble, Float, Wave, Repel (mouse), Magnet (mouse), Swirl, Swing, Pulse, Ripple, Sparkle.
